Rocks and Fossils

Date: 7th Oct 2019 @ 1:18pm

In Science, we have been looking at rocks! We began our topic by looking at different types of rocks and putting them into different groups. Then we learnt about the three natural types of rocks: sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic. Did you know it takes millions of years to make some rocks? We learnt the names of some rocks including: granite, basalt, limestone, obsidian, slate and marble. We investigated the permeability and durability of the rocks by placing the rocks in water and scraping them with sandpaper. Our results were very interesting. Finally, we looked at how fossils were formed and even got to look at some real fossils.
