Autumn 2: Week 5

Date: 29th Nov 2023 @ 8:23am

Our Christmas preparations have well and truly begun! The children have been busy practising their sewing skills and can now all thread a needle and do a running stitch. They've also all designed and made the Christmas baubles that they will be selling at the Christmas Fair. We have also been practising very hard for our nativity- the children know their lines and the songs and I am so proud of them all.

The children are enjoying observing the weather in our investigation/science area and are learning about the scientific enquiry observing over time. They were surprised to see that the weather could change from sunny to rainy to cloudy in just one school day!

In Maths, we have finished learning about shapes and the children can now distinguish between 2D and 3D shapes and can name most of them. We have started to explore numbers up to 20 using lots of visual and concrete representations.

We were lucky enough to have a Zoom call with 2 authors named Nick Sharratt and Pippa Goodhart, who shared their new book 'You Choose Christmas'. The children thoroughly enjoyed it and even participated in a live drawing session; they are now experts in drawing a snowman, a Christmas pudding and Santa.

On Friday, we had a very exciting morning. Eddy the Elf was stuck to our board and had written us a letter! In his letter, he told us that he had brought us an advent calendar and was here to stay for the next few weeks.
