Roald Dahl Day- Creating our own characters

Date: 20th Sep 2023 @ 12:55pm

To celebrate Roald Dahl Day some children came to school in some great costumes and we spoke all about the amazing books Roald Dahl has written. In class 5, we focussed on Charlie and the Chocolate factory. It's a story the children know well as we read it together when we were in Y3. We spoke about our favourite parts of the story and then began discussing the characters. Road Dahl's descriptions of the characters were brilliant and really helped us to visualise them. The names of the characters also told us a lot about their personalities and the way that they looked, and this inspired our writing. The children were given a first and a last name to create a brand new character! They then had to decide what their characters appearance, personality, likes and dislikes would be. We had all sorts of characters from Hermione Honeybee to Clarinda Wantalot. I was really impressed with the children’s descriptions and you can read some of them below! Do their names match their descriptions?
