'Eggciting' times
Date: 3rd Mar 2022 @ 3:37pm
The children have enjoyed some special events this week, in addition to our usual lessons. On Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day) they learnt about traditions in the UK and in other countries. They were excited to hear about the Mardi Gras festivals in some of the countries that they've visited or known children from. As well as tucking into some delicious pancakes, which they put toppings on themselves, we had an egg and spoon race. It was lots of fun and I'd like to say a big congratulations to Jenny, who won the most races!
On Thursday's World Book Day we shared some of our favourite books, took part in quizzes, made a wish list of books for the classroom and hunted down different characters, who had been hidden around the room. Some children dressed up as and told us about their favourite characters. In the afternoon, the class read 'The New Jumper' by Oliver Jeffers. They recognised the book's style from 'Lost and Found', which they studied in Year 1. As well as reading the story, they sewed some jumper designs, drew some unique Huey characters and completed scavenger hunts using a selection of books.
The children have been very welcoming to some new pupils this week as well. Their learning around kindness has been very useful! They each decorated part of a collaborative picture, which is now on the classroom window.
