Happy To Be Me

Date: 26th Sep 2025 @ 8:23am

This week the final group of children joined Nursery as part of our phased start. Over the past three weeks, all of the children have settled in really well and are starting to get used to our routines, like sitting on the carpet and listening during short group times.

During carpet sessions, we have been exploring the story Happy to Be Me by Emma Dodd. As a class, we talked about how we are all different and special. The children then enjoyed looking in mirrors to identify their features and making their own paper plate portraits, using lots of different materials.

The children have also been building their fine motor skills by making button pattern pictures. They carefully placed the buttons to match the patterns on the trays, showing great focus and concentration. They have also had lots of fun sorting pom poms into coloured jars using tweezers.

It’s been a busy and creative week in Nursery, and we’re looking forward to more fun together next week.
