International Literacy Day

Date: 10th Sep 2023 @ 6:26pm

To celebrate International Literacy Day, we considered the importance of being literate with regard to how it can support and improve our life chances. The children discussed a range of situations and scenarios where it would be important to be able to read and write; they created posters to share these and encourage people to continue to explore and develop their own literacy skills.

We also considered the fact that literacy and being literate applies to all languages. As a class with many speakers of other languages; Mandarin, Arabic, Kurdish and Czech to name a few, we listened to and read a well known favourite story in different languages, to see how much we were still able to understand.
