National Coding Week

Date: 22nd Sep 2020 @ 3:20pm

This week we have taken part in National Coding Week. We have completed various ‘unplugged’ activities to help us learn more about what coding actually is and what it involves.

We learnt that an algorithm is a sequence of instructions that can be followed to complete a task. This task can be anything, as long as you give precise, step-by-step instructions for it. Algorithims for computers are translated into code so that the computer can understand it. We practiced giving each other clear instructions for moving around the playground. We used commands such as forward, back, left, right and turn. Look at the images of us below.

We are now going to practise coding on computers! If you want to have a go at some coding there are lots of activities on purple mash.
