Our Colour Monster Creations!

Date: 12th Oct 2025 @ 6:53pm

This week in Reception, we had lots of fun exploring The Colour Monster by Anna Llenas, a lovely story that helps us understand and talk about our feelings and emotions.

After reading the story together, we talked about all the different colour monsters and what each colour represents — like yellow for happiness, blue for sadness, red for anger, and green for calm. The children did a wonderful job sharing their own ideas and thinking about how different colours can show how we feel inside.

Then it was time to get creative! Each child chose which monster they wanted to make and what feeling their monster would represent. Using cardboard tubes, we painted them in our chosen colours and had so much fun decorating them with googly eyes, woolly hair, sparkles, and lots of imagination!

Our classroom was full of colour, laughter, and creativity, and our finished Colour Monsters look absolutely fantastic! The children are very proud of their work, and we’re so proud of how thoughtfully they talked about their emotions too.

Well done, Reception! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿงก
