🌟 Our First Week in Reception! 🌟

What a wonderful first week we have had in Reception! It has been lovely to welcome all of our new children and families to our class, and I have been incredibly proud of how well the children have settled into their new routines.

We have spent lots of time getting to know each other, exploring our classroom and learning where everything belongs. The children have enjoyed discovering all of our different areas of provision and have already started making new friends. It has been fantastic to see them becoming more confident each day and beginning to feel at home in their new classroom. 

Our theme this half term is ‘All About Me’, so we have started talking about ourselves, our families and the things that make us special and unique. We have enjoyed sharing things about ourselves with our friends and learning more about the people in our new class.

In Literacy, we have been enjoying stories and rhymes together, talking about the characters and joining in with familiar parts of the stories. We have also been developing our listening and communication skills through conversations, stories and group activities.

In Maths, we have been exploring numbers through songs, counting activities and our classroom provision. We have been practising counting carefully and recognising numbers as we play.

In our creative activities, the children have enjoyed exploring different materials and getting creative. We have been encouraging everyone to have a go, explore new resources and talk about what they are creating.

Outdoors, the children have loved exploring our outdoor areas. We have been learning how to use the different spaces safely and sensibly, while developing our confidence through climbing, riding and balancing, construction, mark making, games and imaginative play.

Most importantly, we have been learning how to be part of our new Reception family – sharing, taking turns, listening to our friends and adults, looking after our classroom and beginning to follow our new routines.

A huge well done to all of the children for such a fantastic first week! ⭐ I am so proud of each and every one of you and can't wait to see what next week brings.
