Reception Blog – Week 6
Date: 17th Oct 2025 @ 5:07pm
What another wonderful week we’ve had in Reception!
In literacy, we have been reading The Very Hungry Worry Monster. The children were very excited to meet our very own class worry monster! We talked about the things that might make us feel worried and learned that it’s okay to share our feelings. The children enjoyed writing down their worries and feeding them to our worry monster to help them feel better.
For our focus task, we drew pictures of our worries inside the worry monster’s tummy and used our phonics to label them. In the creative area, the children made their own paper bag worry monsters to take home – they were all so imaginative and unique!
In maths, we finished our topic on comparing quantities. This week, we focused on non-identical objects, and the children have become brilliant at saying which group has more and which has fewer. It’s been great to see their confidence grow as they use this new mathematical language.
This week we have been practising our ball skills outdoors. We've had lots of fun throwing, catching and kicking the balls in our ball area. We will be working on developing these skills after half term.
It’s been a lovely week filled with creativity, kindness, and confidence!
We would like to wish all the children a wonderful half-term holiday! We hope they enjoy a well-earned rest and have lots of fun with family and friends. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for more learning adventures in Autumn 2.
