🌷 Reception – Spring 2, Week 4 🌷

We have had another fantastic week in Reception, full of learning, creativity and celebrations!

The arrival of the sunshine meant that we have engaged in lots of outdoor learning this week. Look through our photos to see how much fun we had!

This week we continued our learning based on the story of The Three Little Pigs. We explored some of the unfamiliar vocabulary from the story, taking time to understand what the words mean and practising using them in our own sentences.

For our focus task, the children used their imaginations to think of a new ending for the story and wrote about it. We were so impressed with their ideas—there were lots of funny, creative and surprising twists! Some children even decided the wolf became friendly, while others had very clever ways for the pigs to outsmart him.

In Maths, we started an exciting new topic: patterns. This week we focused on repeating AB patterns. The children had lots of fun continuing different patterns, spotting mistakes in patterns and creating their own repeating patterns using a range of objects and colours. It has been wonderful to see how quickly they have picked this up!

☘️ Celebrations – St Patrick’s Day, Red nose day & Eid

On Tuesday, we learnt about St Patrick’s Day. The children enjoyed finding out why it is celebrated and decorated beautiful shamrocks to take home.

On Friday it was Red Nose Day and many of us came to school wearing red. This year’s theme is “Take yourself funny for money.”

We learnt about how, through fundraising, we can help people get what they need to eat, sleep and feel safe. The children enjoyed being part of such a special day and helping to make a difference.

On Friday it was also Eid, and many of our children and staff were busy celebrating at home with their families. On Thursday, we spent time learning all about Eid and its importance. The children made lovely Eid cards to share with their friends.
