🌷 Reception – Spring 2, Week 5 🌷

Date: 27th Mar 2026 @ 8:19am

It has been another busy and exciting week in Reception, with lots of creativity, learning and preparation for our upcoming assembly!

πŸ“š Literacy – Goldilocks and the Three Bears

This week we started our new story, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The children have really enjoyed getting to know the story and its characters.

We had lots of fun acting out the story using our new puppets and masks, which helped us to retell the story and understand it even better.

For our literacy focus task, we thought about how the bears felt when they came home and discovered that Goldilocks had been in their house. The children did a fantastic job using their phonics to independently write speech bubbles to show how each bear was feeling. We were so impressed with their ideas and growing confidence in writing.

πŸ”’ Maths – Patterns

In Maths, we continued our learning on patterns.

This week we explored:

  • AAB patterns
  • ABB patterns

The children had lots of fun creating their own patterns using different objects, colours and shapes. They are becoming much more confident at recognising, continuing and inventing patterns.

We have also been very busy practising our songs for our Spring Assembly next week. The children have been working so hard to learn the words and actions, and we are very proud of their efforts.

To match our spring-themed songs, we made our own fantastic “spring chicken” hats, which we can’t wait to wear for our performance!

We hope you are able to come and watch us perform—it’s going to be a wonderful show! 🌼🐣
