🌷 Reception – Spring 2, Week 6 🌷

Date: 4th Apr 2026 @ 8:19am

This week has been our final week of the spring term, and what a busy and exciting one it has been!

We have been very busy preparing for the Easter break and learning all about Easter.

The children loved exploring our Easter-themed tuff tray, which was filled with chicks, bunnies, flowers and feathers. It sparked lots of imaginative play and discussion.

We also enjoyed making our Easter cards and taking part in a variety of Easter-themed crafts throughout the week.

To finish the term, we had a fantastic Easter party, where we played dancing games and enjoyed a fun game of pass the parcel! We also took part in the Easter bonnet competition. We had 3 winners in reception but all of the entries were amazing.

In Literacy, we finished our learning on Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

We explored some unfamiliar vocabulary from the story and worked together to understand their meanings.

For our final focus task, the children wrote their own alternative endings to the story. Once again, they amazed us with their funny, imaginative and creative ideas—we loved reading them all!

In Maths, we had an Easter-themed counting week.

The children:

  • Counted different amounts of eggs
  • Practised writing numbers, focusing on correct formation
  • Revisited the concepts of 1 more and 1 less

It has been great to see how much progress they have made with their number skills this term.

On Tuesday, we performed our Spring Assembly in the hall. The children did an amazing job singing their songs and performing in front of an audience. We were so proud of their confidence and enthusiasm!

Thank you to everyone who came to watch and support us.

It has been a very busy but enjoyable spring term, and the children have worked incredibly hard.

We hope you all have a lovely Easter break and come back refreshed and ready for our exciting new topic, “Come Outside”, where we will be learning all about planting, growing and minibeasts! 🌱🐞✨
