🌼 Reception – Summer 1, Week 2 🌼

Date: 24th Apr 2026 @ 1:33pm

We have had another wonderful week in Reception, continuing our exciting “Come Outside” topic with lots of sunshine and outdoor learning!

This week in Literacy we explored a new story, The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle. The children really enjoyed following the journey of the tiny seed as it travelled through different places before finally settling into the soil and growing into a beautiful flower.

Using our knowledge from this story and others we have read, the children wrote their own instructions for how to grow a seed. We carefully thought about each step and used our phonics to help us write words and simple sentences. We were so impressed with how well the children sequenced their ideas and applied their learning.

In Maths, we have been learning how to subtract by counting back.

We used number lines to help us solve problems and practised moving backwards step by step. The children are becoming very confident at using number lines and are doing a fantastic job applying this skill to their learning.

In the creative area, we made beautiful cupcake case flowers, which are now proudly displayed in our classroom.

With the lovely sunny weather, we have also spent lots of time learning outdoors. The children have enjoyed exploring our outdoor environment, working together, and making the most of the sunshine.

Thank you to the parents who came to our Parent's evening. It was lovely to meet with you all and to update you on how well your children are doing in school.

It has been a fantastic week full of learning and fun. Please take a look at our photos to see all of the wonderful things we have been getting up to! πŸŒΈβ˜€οΈπŸŒΏ
