☀️ Reception – Summer 2, Week 3 ☀️
Date: 26th Jun 2026 @ 1:51pm
This week has been very hot, and we have all found the heat a little challenging! We have tried to make the most of the cooler parts of the day by playing outdoors early in the morning and enjoying activities such as water play and exploring the mud kitchen.
Due to the high temperatures, we finished our days after lunch, which meant we were unable to complete all of our planned Maths learning this week. Don't worry though – we will be carrying this over to next week.
💦 Keeping Cool
The children have especially loved our water play this week and, in particular, the water sprayers! They had great fun squirting their friends and teachers to help everyone stay cool in the sunshine.
We have also enjoyed cooling down with delicious ice lollies, which were very much appreciated by everyone!
🐥 Farewell to Our Chicks
We have loved spending more time with our chicks this week, and we know the children will be sad to see them leave today. The chicks are returning to the farm, although Miss Cummings has taken four of the girls to live on her farm.
This means we can look forward to receiving regular chick updates and watching them grow over the coming months!
🎂 Birthday Celebrations
It was my birthday this week, and I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the staff, children and parents who wished me a happy birthday. Your kind messages and thoughtful wishes were very much appreciated.
👋 Goodbye Miss Conway
We also had some sad news this week as Miss Conway left us on Thursday to begin a new job. We wish her every success in her new role and know that she will be fantastic!
In true Reception style, we held a goodbye party where we enjoyed singing, dancing and playing pass the parcel together. It was a lovely way to celebrate all the wonderful memories we have shared with her.
I am crossing my fingers for a cooler week next week! Well done to all of the children for being so sensible and resilient in the hot sunshine. We are very proud of you all.
