The first enquiry explores a world without rocks and begins with the children using mystery items to elicit their understanding of describing different materials. We then went on a rock hunt around the school grounds, describing their properties.

 

For the second enquiry, this enquiry links with Formular One and children will be investigating materials. The context was thinking about a material which will keep the heat of the engine away from the racing driver - the investigation involved placing an ice cube (the driver) on a ziplock bag with warm water in (the engine) and testing various materials to see which material kept the ice cube from melting the longest.
