Shapes, Sailing Away and Spanish Singing

Date: 11th Jun 2021 @ 6:38pm

This week we have continued learning about shapes. The children now know how to carefully count the sides and vertices of 2D shapes as well as what they're called. They sorted some shapes in groups. Can you work out how they classified the shapes? Some of the words they used to describe them are 'polygon', 'quadrilateral' and 'curved'.

In Literacy this week we read 'The Owl and the Pussycat' by Edward Lear. We made a collaborative artwork full of weird and wonderful things they might have seen on their unusual journey. On Friday, the children wrote and performed poems outside. They had to choose their favourite lines from their work and say them in a loud, clear voice. I was so impressed with their efforts and we now have another class book of the children's work in our reading area.

We also learnt a new song in Spanish. There is a link to the video on our Google Classroom page.
