Spring 1: Week 1

Date: 4th Jan 2024 @ 1:36pm

It has been so lovely to see the children again- I certainly missed them! The children enjoyed sharing what they had been up to over the holidays and it was great to hear how much fun they have had.

As always, the children got straight back into routine and explored the different phonics activities that were set up, showing their understanding of the different sounds. They have enjoyed playing 'school' with each other where one child is the teacher and the others are the students; this has helped them to recap speed sounds!

In maths, we have been consolidating our understanding of number bonds to 10, through the use of manipulatives. We have also been exploring numbers up to 20 and used rekenreks to help us. T

During PSHE, we played different games to get to know each other better. The children found out that they have lots of similar likes and dislikes to each other.

We finished our Geography from the last half term by exploring what can be found at the beach; the children enjoyed looking at the shells that Adealide, Aiden and Miss Stokes brought in for us. As a class, we discussed that there can be many things at the beach that are alive, were once alive or were never alive and they could confidently identify examples of them all. We also discussed how pollution and litter is damaging the beach environment and putting the animals at risk.
