Spring 1 - Week 3
Date: 23rd Jan 2026 @ 12:41pm
We have had another busy and exciting week in Reception, full of imagination, movement, and fantastic learning.
At the start of the week, we introduced our new story, Aliens Love Underpants. The children have loved sharing this story and joining in with the fun.
We designed our very own aliens and described their underpants, coming up with some wonderfully creative and imaginative ideas. We have also been practicing writing different cvc words using our phonics.
In maths, we have been comparing numbers to 10 and confidently saying which group has more and which has fewer. The children are becoming much more secure with this skill, and it would be lovely if you could continue to practise this at home through simple counting and comparison games.
In the creative area, we painted some amazing aliens, which are now proudly displayed in our classroom. The children carefully selected colours and added details to make their artwork truly unique.
We have also enjoyed lots of outdoor learning this week and have been busy exploring our newly revamped area. Take a look at our photos to see some of the fun things we’ve been doing.
On Friday, we took part in our gymnastics session in the hall. The children are becoming very confident at listening carefully to instructions and joining in with the different movements and routines.
Another fantastic week of learning in Reception — well done, everyone!
