Spring 1: Week 5

This week, we have continued to read Beegu and found out that she has made some friends at a school, but the mean teacher won't let her stay! We, as Beegu, received a letter from the children at the school, so the children wrote a reply as if they were Beegu.

In Maths, we have continued to explore addition and subtraction, using concrete resources to help understanding. The children enjoyed working in their teams and exploring the different activities set up.

We have started our geography topic where we will answer the question, 'How does the weather affect our lives?'. To start, the children worked together to discuss a range of images that showed different types of weather; they used some fantastic vocabulary, such as foggy, dry, windy, sunny, misty, snowy and stormy. After that, we set up our weather investigation. We used oktas to observe cloud cover, thermometers to observe the temperature, rain gauges to observe the rainfall and a weather vane to observe the direction of the wind. We will continue to observe the weather daily.
