Spring 1 - Week 6

Date: 13th Feb 2026 @ 4:13pm

This week marked our final week before the half-term holidays, and it has been a lovely one to end on.

We have continued with our Valentine’s theme, taking part in some wonderful crafts and even enjoying a spot of biscuit decorating. The children showed great creativity and care in their designs.

In literacy, we completed our learning around Max and the Tag-Along Moon. We explored some of the unfamiliar vocabulary from the story, discussing the meanings of new words and how we can use them in our own speaking and writing.

In maths, we focused on weight, exploring the concepts of heavy and light. The children compared different objects and began using mathematical language to describe what they noticed. We discussed how we can tell if something is heavier or lighter and practised making comparisons using our hands and classroom resources.

On Friday, we had a special Valentine’s party to say goodbye to our student teacher, Miss Hesford, who is leaving us after completing her placement. We would like to thank her for all of her hard work and support in Reception and wish her all the very best.

We hope you all have a lovely half-term break, and we look forward to welcoming the children back for more learning and fun next term with our new theme - Traditional Tales!
