Spring 2, week 2

Date: 9th Mar 2024 @ 9:07am

It has been a very busy week for Class 4!

We have continued our history inquiry into the Romans and have looked in detail at the Roman Army. In particular, we learnt about their unfair treatment of Boudica and her response. The pupils really enjoyed looked at each of the armies and predicting who would be triumphant in the battle in 61AD. All of year 4 were disappointed to find out that Boudica was defeated but were interested in some of the legend surrounding the events following her defeat.

World Book Day also took place on Thursday and class 4 attended in some very thoughtful costumes inspired by their favourite characters and books! We have been trying new authors and thinking about genres that we enjoy as a class, so I challenged students to find out about authors they hadn't heard of before. Pupils produced detailed research and were excited to start reading books by their chosen author.
Class 4 also teamed up with class 1 in a reading swap. They all thoroughly enjoyed reading and sharing ideas with pupils they wouldn't usually work with!

Class 4 rounded off the week with an introduction to their Science week topic: Building better worlds. We explored the meaning of 'biodiversity' and many examples of biodiversity in our environment. Pupils are looking forward to carrying out their inquiry - watch this space!
