Summer 1: Week 1

Date: 10th Apr 2024 @ 10:28am

It has been so lovely to welcome the children back after the Easter break!

We have started reading our new book, 'The Rabbit Problem' in English. The children love that it is a calendar-type story and have enjoyed finding out what the rabbits do each month. We have read up to June when the crows are coming—the children designed their own scarecrows and wrote excellent character descriptions for them.

In maths, we have continued to count in 2s, 5s and 10s which the children are getting very good at. We will be moving on to exploring equal groups next week.

During our history lessons, we have started to learn about the Roman Empire. The children now know that an empire is a group of countries that is led by one powerful person. They used maps to find modern-day countries that made up the Empire. I wonder if they can tell you any of them?  They've also found out about volcanoes, specifically Mount Vesuvius and the impact its eruption had on Pompeii.

This half-term we are learning how to play futsal with Jack, our sports coach! The children thoroughly enjoyed this and are excited to continue next week.
