Summer 1- Week 2
Date: 23rd Apr 2026 @ 8:19am
We have had a wonderful week enjoying the sunshine and hope that it continues!
In PE, we have been working on our fitness, and preparation for Sports Day. We have practised our speed and agility skills, and jumping skills. The children thoroughly enjoyed the obstacle course that was set up. In history, we have been learning about The Roman Empire, which was led by Emperor Nero and consisted of countries such as: Spain, France, Italy and Portugal. Then, we learnt more about Pompeii and what happened there when Mount Vesuvius erupted. The children were fascinated by the time lapse video that we watched. They could also identify the parts of a volcano. We then went outside in the sunshine and the children worked in pairs to draw and label their own volcanoes. The labels included: lava, magma, rocks, cloud of ash, and poisonous gas.
We are excited to continue our learning in the sunshine in the next few weeks :).
