Summer 2: Week 2

Date: 17th Jun 2022 @ 12:56pm

We were very lucky to have a community safety workshop through Network Rail. They discussed the importance of safety near railways and the dangers to look out for. They brought in parts of the railway for the children to see and hold, as well as a model railway that the children were fascinated with!

In English, we have continued to read The Wind in the Willows. As it is quite a tricky book to understand at parts, we have also watched clips from the video! The children absolutely love Mr. Toad and think that he is hilarious (as well as a bit silly!). We've read up to Chapter 3 where Mole goes to find Badger in The Wild Woods and the children wrote excellent diary entries as if they were Mole.

In Maths, the children have been using what they have learned about money to solve addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems, including two-step problems.

In Science, the children have been learning about electricity. They now know how to create a simple circuit using bulbs, batteries, and wires. Additionally, they had the opportunity to investigate what happens if a circuit is incomplete, or if additional components are added. They've also been introduced to switches and how they work in a circuit.

A huge well done to Olivia who is this week's Star Learner for always trying her hardest with everything that she does.
