Week 2 in Reception

What another fantastic week we have had in Reception! We have continued our work on our topic ‘All About Me’ and have enjoyed learning more about ourselves and what makes each of us special and unique.

📚 In Literacy, we read the lovely story Marvellous Me by Lisa Bullard. We talked about the things that make us unique and celebrated all the wonderful things that make us who we are. The children then had a go at drawing their own self-portraits in their books. It was fantastic to see the children looking carefully at their features and creating their own special pictures.

🎨 In our Creative Area, we continued our ‘All About Me’ theme by making our own faces using a variety of different materials. The children enjoyed choosing their resources and getting creative. Our wonderful creations are now proudly displayed in our classroom for everyone to admire!

🔢 In Maths, we have been focusing on numbers to 3. We have been practising counting, recognising and writing numbers, as well as exploring numbers through lots of fun, hands-on activities.

🐊 We ended the week with a very special Roald Dahl Day on Friday! The children looked fantastic coming to school dressed as different characters from Roald Dahl's wonderful stories. In EYFS, we focused on The Enormous Crocodile and had lots of fun joining in with different crocodile-themed activities and crafts. We finished our day by enjoying the story together.

Well done, Reception, for another fantastic week! We have been so impressed with how well you are settling into school, making new friends and joining in with all of our exciting learning. We are incredibly proud of you all! 💕🌈
