Week 3 in Reception

Date: 26th Sep 2025 @ 4:58pm

What a wonderful week we’ve had in Reception!

In Literacy, we have been reading The Family Book by Todd Parr. We talked about how families can look different, but every family is special in its own way. The children enjoyed drawing pictures of their own families and worked hard to use their phonics to label their drawings.

In Maths, our focus has been on the number 4. We explored different ways of representing 4 using five frames, helping us to see and understand the number in lots of fun ways.

In the Creative Area, the children were very excited to make their own houses out of lolly sticks. Inside, they drew their families, and we now have a beautiful display of their work in our classroom for everyone to admire.

We have also continued our Phonics learning, practising a new sound every day. The children have been carefully working on their letter formation, making sure they are writing each sound correctly.

We have had some sunny days this week so we have been outdoors playing on the climbing frame and bikes. We had lots of fun hunting for bugs in the mud kitchen and even found some worms and ladybirds!

We've been busy practising our song 'The Dingle Dangle Scarecrow' for our Harvest assembly next week, and have made our own scarecrow hats to wear.

It has been a busy and exciting week. We are so proud of how hard the children are trying in every area of their learning. We can’t wait to see what next week will bring!
