Week 4 in Reception

Date: 3rd Oct 2025 @ 4:42pm

What a busy and exciting week we have had in Reception!

In Literacy, we enjoyed reading Our Class is a Family by Shannon Olsen. We spent time thinking about who is important to us in our class and why. The children shared some lovely ideas about their friends and teachers and then chose to draw a special person from our class family.

In Maths, our focus has been all about the number 5. We helped Teddy celebrate his 5th birthday by preparing everything he needed for his party! We counted out 5 balloons, wrapped 5 presents, and even added 5 candles to his birthday cake. This made our learning about number 5 extra fun and meaningful. We also continued our work with the numberblocks. We had fun creating the numberblocks characters out of multi-link cubes.

In the creative area, we explored the theme of friendship. The children made colourful friendship bracelets to share and also decorated friendship paper dolls, designing them to look just like their friends.

This week while Outdoors we created faces out of natural materials like sticks and stones. We carefully arranged them to look like our features. They were great!

On Friday, we had our Harvest Assembly. Early Years performed our song ‘The Dingle Dangle Scarecrow’ in front of the whole school and many proud parents. The children sang and acted brilliantly. We were so proud of their confidence and enthusiasm!

It has been another fun-filled week of learning and working together. We are looking forward to even more exciting adventures next week!
