Week 4 in Reception

What another wonderful week we have had in Reception! We have continued our ‘All About Me’ topic and have enjoyed talking about our families, learning about looking after our teeth and even performing in our very first Harvest Assembly!

📚 In Literacy, we have been reading The Family Book by Todd Parr. We talked about how all families are different and that every family is special in its own way. We then enjoyed talking about our own families and drew pictures of the people who are important to us as part of our Literacy task.

🏠 In our Creative Area, we made our very own lolly stick houses and drew pictures of our families inside. The children enjoyed thinking carefully about who lives in their homes and creating their own special family pictures. Our lovely houses are now proudly displayed in our classroom!

🔢 In Maths, we have been focusing on the number 5. The children have been practising counting, recognising and writing numbers and are now showing great confidence with numbers to 5. We are very proud of the progress they have made and they are ready to move on to our next Maths learning next week.

🦷 On Tuesday, we had a special dental workshop! We learnt all about the importance of looking after our teeth and talked about ways we can keep them healthy and clean. The children enjoyed learning some important messages about caring for their smiles.

🌾 We ended the week with our Harvest Assembly on Friday! The children did such a fantastic job performing their songs to our parents, carers and the whole school. We were incredibly proud of them for standing up in front of such a large audience and joining in so confidently. Well done, Reception! 👏💕

What a fantastic week we have had! The children continue to amaze us with their confidence, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. We are so proud of everything they have achieved during our first half term together.
