Week 5
Date: 4th Oct 2026 @ 5:43pm
What a fabulous week Year 6 have had!
In English, the children thought about what might happen to Sinbad the sailor on his 4th voyage. Sinbad has been through a lot so far; to see the children come up with such imaginative ideas as to what could happen next was fantastic. Their stories certainly were entertaining to read! In maths, the children worked really hard to understand how to reason from known facts. They used bar models to help support their understanding and were able to confidently explain to a partner how to work out problems mentally with larger numbers just by simply using what they knew already.
In PE, the children practised their defense skills during football and had fun playing a 5 a side game at the end of the lesson. In science, we have started to recap our understanding from Year 3 and Year 4 about the body in preparation for learning about the circulatory system. The children worked hard to make their own heart models which modelled how once blood has entered the heart through a vein, it can only leave through an artery. They loved 'pumping' the blood! They also made modles of blood and were able to explain what blood is made up of and the uses of each part.
